Mwenya Uganda is never happy to spend your donations on administration. We use the power of the internet, networking and a big ‘mwenya’ (smile) to source as many services and items for free. For example, we use travel forums to source people flying between the UK and Uganda to take equipment for us, rather than paying huge cargo transport costs. Inevitably, we feel we should be transparent that there are unfortunately some small unavoidable costs such as paying for a website domain name, internet credit in Uganda and transfer fees when sending money from the UK to Uganda, but we work to keep these costs to an absolute minimum (approximately £7 a month) so as much money as possible can go to helping those who need us most. We have no office in the UK, no fancy literature and no UK salaries to pay. The profits from our social enterprise projects cover the costs our office rent and the wages of our two salaried employees - therefore please be assured that we will spend your donation directly on helping those who need it the most.
